Photographer Angelo Richardson recently pulled out his Nissin MF18 Ring Flash to capture these images of a Cryptic Mantis. The Cryptic Mantis is about an inch long and very agile. Angelo captured these images with his Nissin MF18 Ring Flash and 1 bare speedlight as a backlight.
"The MF18 made it possible to shoot at very small apertures. Some were shot at f16! The modeling LED lights made it very easy for the auto focus to keep track of the mantis. This was great! I ended up with lots of keepers."
