Working with gels is a creative effect that can add mood and drama to your images. In fashion photography, gels can be a useful tool to communicate emotion or to showcase a feature of clothing.  

Watch Frank Doorhof show how moving around the model allows you to control the contrast in your scene.  You can easily go from a nice flat lighting to a more contrasty look to a full contrast (low key) setup in seconds.
